Description
This is part of a simple shaft loom that was made in the late eighteenth century in Southeastern Pennsylvania and used there for over two hundred years. This massive beam adds side-to-side support to the loom. It also holds the treadles, which the weaver stepped on to raise and lower threads for weaving.
