Description
This rod with hooks is came to Winterthur with a loom that was used in southeastern Pennsylvania for over two hundred years. This tool is used to start a new warp from an extant set of gears. The smaller beam is placed in a slot in the loom's cloth beam while the other section is hooked over the wooden dowel woven into the gears. The weaver can then add tension to the new warp and draw it into position by turning the cloth beam, shortening the rope and pulling the old warp away from the gears and drawing the new warp towards the reed.
