Description
This quilling wheel is designed to fill bobbins and quills with yarn, to be used on a scarne or shuttle respectively. The wheel turns a spindle for the bobbin or quill, which, once started, pulls yarn from a swift to fill inself. This wheel has three turned, splayed legs supporting an angled table. The supports that hold the wheel are mortised through the table, and are topped with decorative finials. The wheel itself is joined, making use of smaller pieces of wood. The wheel is decorated with chip carving, simple line mouldings, decorative turnings, and an exaggerated profile on the quilling box. It includes two iron spindles: one for filling larger warp spools, the other for the smaller shuttle quills.
