Description
This large basin, known as a lebrillo in Spanish, was produced in the Triana district of Seville, where potters produced tin-glazed earthenware (maiolica) ceramics on some scale as early as the 16th century. In the 19th century, potters there would make ceramics including the type shown here, which was known as monteria, and sometimes featured hunting scenes or animals in landscapes.
