Description
A child's white cotton skirt worn with 2013.0048.051 A. A panel of sheer fabric in the center of the skirt is adorned along its entire length with whitework embroidery and a style of openwork known as Ayershire work. The bottom edge is trimmed with an embroidered border of flowers above a scalloped lace edge in whitework embroidery. Vertical strips of fabric border the central panel. These panels are attached along the entire length of the garment from one vertical edge, creating a decorative flap of fabric along the unattached edge (facing the center) that is edged along one side with Ayershire work and embroidered with a scalloped border of whitework. There is a tape drawstring sewn into the waist and a slit opening cut into the center of the back, beginning at the waist.
