Description
A pleated belt made from wool (or wool blend) gabardine (black and white angled twill). Worn with the Suffragette suit (203.0048.025). A rectangular strip of gabardine with three horizontal pleats and a soft sculptured decorative element attached at the center. The decoration is a pleated, oval ring, threaded with a wide length of fabric that is pleated vertically and terminates with19 small tassels of black fringe. The fringe tassels are each tied into one knot at the top. The tassels appear to be made from either linen or mercerized cotton. The ends of the belt close with two hookeye closures. Three strips of black twill tape are sewn to the back of the belt and appear to support the soft sculpture decoration. One iron hook secures into a loop of brown cotton thread.
