Description
This Christian religious gold pendant has a crowned oval frame enclosing the figure of the Virgin Mary wearing under a nimbus wearing a crown, standing upon small clouds, and flanked by palm fronds all mounted on an oval silver backplate. Some of the surface detail is now rubbed away and the suspension loop is thinned from use. This pendant is likely of a colonial Spanish Catholic origin and depicts Mary as the Queen of Heaven, imagery used to represent Christ’s mother often for devotional purposes.
