Identical pin cushion sewing boxes have been observed on auction sites and collectible dealer websites labeled "Made in occupied Japan". Between 1947 and 1952 "Made in occupied Japan" was a mark that was legally required to be used on a percentage of Japanese goods. The rest of the goods could be labeled "Made in Japan" so it is possible that this dates from the same time period is the identical sewing boxes labeled "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN" More research would be needed. Other identical boxes have been observed labeled "FOREIGN"
