This tieback or tassel was probably acquired and altered for use with Winterthur's furnishing textiles between 1929 and 1969.

The components were possibly made in Europe between 1600 and 1720 in either the Louis XIII style (1600-1650) or the Louis XIV style (1650-1720). It may be a late-nineteenth-century revival tieback.
