Mary Hemphill (Maker)
Mary Hemphill lived in Wilmington, Delaware, but it is not known where she attended school. She may have gone to Philadelphia for school as her father, William, had once lived there and continued to maintain his Philadelphia business connections in the China trade. Mary married Morgan Jones in 1808. There are several pieces in the collection that are related to the Hemphill family. Some of them are gifts from her father, and were given to her prior to her marriage. Others, owned by Mary after her marriage bear her initials "MHJ".
