Origin Notes

Forman attributed this chair to perhaps the vicinity of Hingham, Massachusetts. He concluded it was made in the same shop as the Miles Standish chair, which descended through many generations of the Lincoln family of Hingham and is now in the collections of the Pilgrim Society, Plymouth, Massachusetts. However, he also believed the Standish chair was an urban product, produced in nearby Boston or Charlestown.
