1737-1814
Elisabeth's marriage is recorded in the Married Record: Bethlehem Moravian Congregation, Vol. 1, 1742-1854, ed. Clarence E. Beckel, 1936. She was married October 14th, 1766. Her husband Henrich was born in 1728 in Basel, Switzerland, the third son of Emanuel and Salome. He was ordained a deacon in 1762 and served churches in Emmaus and York, Pennsylvania, until he went blind. He died Jan. 20, 1817, in Bethlehem, PA. Elisabeth was born in 1737 on Long Island, the eldest daughter of Timothy, Sr. and Mary Horsfield. She died in 1814 in Bethlehem after some psychological problems late in life when she refused to leave her home. Her parents had a butcher shop in New York City on the Harbor and her father had done business and helped build the ships that went to Europe to bring back Moravians. Her father was a church member but never lived the communal life. He built the first store in Bethlehem about 1749, was a justice of the peace, and took part in treaties with the Indians. Elisabeth had three brothers, Timothy, Joseph, and Thomas.
