Schumacher is one of a few fraktur artists who were also pastors - although he was not ordained by the Lutheran Church and therefore should not have been administering the sacraments (The Earnests provide a rather frank account of his life.)

Primary creation place is birthplace on certificate. Schumacher also lived in Weisenberg Township at this time, having settled on a farm along Schweitzer Creek in Northampton (now Lehigh) County in the late 1750s.
