Mary Lawrence (1784-1830), the maker of the sampler, was the daughter of Dr. Ephraim Lawrence (1735-1809) and his second wife Ruth Green of Pepperell, Massachusetts. Her father was a medical doctor, and active in town politics during the lead up to the American Revolution. She married Luther Lakin in 1808. Further research may elucidate the school, and more information about the maker. (RGW, 04/28/2016)
