Mary Harrington was born in Massachusetts, and worked this plain marking sampler. Mary had a sister, Katherine Harrington (b.1794, d. 1866). The sampler was later owned by her descendant Mary Harrington Staples, the great grandmother of the donor John (Eric) Fredland. Mary Staples died in 1933.
