1716 completed apprenticeship and became a freeman Workshop at st. John's Square in Clerkenwell, central London 1726 Grendet had his own apprentices and was recognized as the most accomplished English cabinetmaker incorporating 'japanned' decoration 1731 workshop fire which destroyed "furniutre to the value of 1,000 lbs pack'd for Exportation against the next morning' 1740 80 items of scarlet japanned furniture for the Duke of Infantado's castle at Lazcano, near San Sebastain in Northern spain Grendey's daughter Sikey married, John Cobb, a cabinetmaker who partnered with William Vile and also served as a cabinet-maker for George III.
