References: Earnest, Papers for Birth Dayes, p. 371; Swank, Arts of the Pennsylvania Germans, p. 261. Winterthur's fraktur 69.596 is the only documented example of Siegel's work. Siegel taught in several Lancaster County schools. He was not a Mennonite, although he did make fraktur for them. His works is distinguished by his illuminated capital letters, which often include faces.
