References: Earnest, Papers for Birth Dayes, pp. 160-3. Gilbert's certificates were often completed by other scriveners. Based on the similarities between their works, Weiser suggests the Berks County Artist was related to Gilbert, possibly his second son, Johann Peter (schoolmaster, b. September 25, 1766). At least two certificates made by this artist where for individuals born in Europe in 1736 and 1742 (see Earnest, p. 60).
