Alexander McLean (Lithographer)
1823-c.1872
Alexander McLean was born in Scotland, c. 1823. He was in Philadelphia in 1849, Louisville in 1850, and in St. Louis in 1851. He appears in the St. Louis city directories from 1851 to 1872. In 1860 he was joined in business by his son, Alexander, Jr. It is therefore probable that the cropped date on the print is 1870. It is also possible that A. McLean may also refer to Alexander, Jr., at a later date in the 1870s.
