Edition Notes

State II, published with Boydell's Illustrious Heads series, 1811. Date "1689" written with pen and ink after the engraver's name, where original printed inscription should be. The use of wove paper and the watermark date (1803) indicate that this is a restrike from a plate that possibly dated 1689. (See Smith p. 1165).
