Laughlin, Pewter in America, Vol. II. p. 110 notes that he owns a sander by this maker. "Nothing is known about the location of the shop. Period, about 1835 or later."
The Pewter Collectors Club of America, Museum of Our National Heritage Catalog, 1984, p. 127 notes that examples of pewter marked "W.Potter" are often also marked by Isreal Trask of Beverly, Massachusetts. W. Potter may have been the merchandiser for Trask's work.
