Label; Underside, within footrim; Large, rectangular, yellowed paper label with "[handwritten] These pieces were part of the dinner service owned by Mr. Sanford who was chancellor of New York State and entertained and served both George Washington and Governor Clinton. They were presented to Mr. Ackley by the niece of Mr. Sanford."
