Construction Description

According to Trent et al., the Staniford chest has two features that do not occur on other case pieces attributed to this shop: 1.) all the framing members on the back have molded and chamfered decoration on their inside surfaces; 2.) there are two diagonal braces dovetailed to the bottom rails at front and rear whose precise function is unknown.
