Richard Lee Sr was the father of Richard Lee Jr, also a pewterer.
Richard Lee,Sr. was the eldest boy in a family of 16 children. He served several enlistments during the Revolutionary War.
In 1802, Richard Lee returned to Springfield, Vermont where he married for the third time and peddled pewter and brass for his son. Throughout his life, Richard moved frequently and tried his hand at a number of professions, pewtering being just one of them. It appears that he learned the pewtering business in order to provide his son, Richard Lee Jr, with a living(Laughlin, Pewter in America, vol.1, p.121-122).
