The body is formed from a hammered thick copper sheet with a straight vertical seam, with the bottom edge underturned. A round disk base is set into the bottom and soldered in place with no dovetails. The copper handle is formed from thick-gauge sheet copper and is riveted to the upper body over a seam. The lid is formed from a single piece of copper sheet, hammered into shape. A brass finial is riveted to center. Lack of dovetailed construction is unusual in early saucepans. The silver-colored solder shows at seams. The copper handle is unusual and impractical.
