Object Description

These lease sticks came to Winterthur along with a loom that has been used in southeastern Pennsylvania for more than two hundred years. Pairs of lease sticks are intertwined into the warp (between the heddles and the warp beam) so that if any warp threads snap under tension, they are easily located between the lease sticks. This simplifies the process of repairing broken warp threads.
