Mother-of-pearl, or nacre, is strong, resilient, and iridescent material forming the inner layer of some mollusk shells. Made from the same material as pearls, it has long been prized and used in decorative items and jewelry.
This game counter is made of mother-of-pearl cut and engraved to look like a fish with one side featuring two lovebirds. It is one in a group of game counters 1969.4071.001-.006.
