Henry Algernon du Pont (Draftsman)

Henry Algernon Du Pont ("The Colonel") graduated first in his class at West Point and fought in the Union Army during the Civil War, rising in the ranks from a 2nd lieutenant to a lieutenant general. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his service in the Battle of Cedar Creek. Late in his life, he was elected U.S. Senator from Delaware in June 1906 and then re-elected for a second term, 1910-17. He married Pauline Foster in 1874 and had two children, Louisa (Crowninshield) and Henry Francis.
