Born in 1751, Job Jones was the son of Hezekiah and Lavinia (Shinn) Jones of Burlington County, New Jersey. Married Sarah Campion on November 23, 1775. Their daughter Mary Jones was born on August 16, 1781. Served as chief mate on the brig Charming Polly from Philadelphia, on which he made two voyages from Cape Henlopen (the southernmost cape of the Delaware Bay, near Lewes, Delaware) to Jamaica, the first in March of 1766 and the second in January of 1767. Attended the following Meeting Houses: Monthly - Mount Holly Yearly - Philadelphia

Origin Notes

The book was started as a cyphering book with mathematics and navigational exercises. By March 1766 it was used as a log book. The drawings were made aboard ship on his two voyages from Cape Henlopen (the southernmost cape of the Delaware Bay, near Lewes, Delaware) to Jamaica.
