The artist's own manuscript autobiography is at Harvard College, Museum of Comparative Zoology. It is thought that he painted approximately five thousand watercolors during his lifetime, a large collection of which is located at the University of South Carolina. Most of his work and travels were confined to the regions of Burke, Scriven, and Bullock Counties.
