Creator (Role)

John M. Butler (Printer and publisher)
John Butler's name is appended to a large number of prints. Butler was a plate print and print publisher in Philadelphia about 1850, and employed engravers. There is no evidence that Butler was an engraver himself. He later held public office in Philadelphia, and abandoned publishing. According to Stauffer, the earliest documented work associated with Butler is dated 1850.
