"One of the printworks on the banks of the River Lea in Middlesex, it was the first listed in the Excise books when duty was imposed in 1712. Benjamin Ollive was mentioned as a calico-printer in a document of 1720. The firm was known as Ollive & Talwin (1763-1783), Talwin & Foster (until 1790), Foster & Co. (until 1823)." Measurements are approximate due to the inherent variability of textiles. (Conservation, 2011). Vertical design repeat: 33 3/8 inches. Horizontal design repeat: No, the motifs bleed off of the edges of the panel. Selvedge width: 27.25 inches, however the edges have been framed with a ribbon and only one selvedge edge is actually visible.
