Hefford's Biographies and Notes on Firms: "Peele & Simpson: Wholesale linen-drapwers in London "chiefly for Printed goods and Muslins" (Mortimer, 1763). John Peele took out a patent in 1766 for "Printing images, songs, maps landscapes and sea-pieces, by copper-plates, on linen for handkerchiefs". Some of the handkerchiefs commissioned by Peele and Simpson were engraved by D. Richards and printed by Rupert Davids, Crayford." (Hefford, Wendy.
