Allen Porter is the older brother of Freeman Porter, also a pewterer. Allen settled in Stevens Plains, Westbrook, Maine
in about 1830. Freeman joined in a partnership with Allen called A. and F. Porter in 1835. Allen retired in about 1840 and Elizur B. Forbes of Hartford became Freeman's foreman (Laughlin, vol.2, p.109).
