Freeman Porter is the younger brother of Allen, also a pewterer. Freeman joined in a partnership with Allen called A. and F. Porter in 1835, the same year he married Mary Ann (Buckley) Partridge). Allen retired in about 1840 and Elizur B. Forbes of Hartford became Freeman's foreman. The shop is listed in the 1860 New England Business Directory (Laughlin, vol.2, p.110).
