Origin Notes

Montgomery attributes this candlestand to probably Charleston, South Carolina, on the basis of the eagle inlay, which is similar (seen in reverse) to that on cellaret 57.840. That cellaret, in turn, is attributed to Charleston because it has bald cypress as a secondary wood.
