Object Description

Web - 12/16/2016

This is part of a shaft loom that was made in the late eighteenth century in Southeastern Pennsylvania and used there for over two hundred years. It is a simple pine board used as a bench for the weaver. It has many obvious signs of use: past weavers scored it frequently with knives, and one added his initials, MM, and the year, 1815.
