1768-1837
Beulah Biddle Sansom was born in 1768 to Quaker parents Joseph Biddle Jr. and Sarah Shreve, who resided in Springfield Township, Burlington County, New Jersey on a farm willed to Joseph by his father. Beulah Biddle married Joseph Sansom, a Philadelphia Quaker, in November 1792. Sansom was a merchant in Philadelphia. From 1798 to 1802, Joseph went on a three-year tour abroad with Beulah. This tour is recorded in a collection of letters currently housed at the Haverford College Library. Joseph and Beulah returned to the United States in 1802, landing in New York in September, before returning to Philadelphia. Beulah died in 1837.
