Benjamin Edes was the grandson and namesake of the Boston printer and revolutionary, Benjamin Edes (1732-1803), who co-founded and published the Boston Gazette and Country Journal. The Star-Spangled Banner is said to have been printed at the younger Edes printing office at the corner of Baltimore and Gay Streets on the morning of September 15, 1814.
