John Bivins attributed this bottle case to Thomas Sharrock (c.1741-c.1802), Roanoke River basin, North Carolina.; The square cabriole legs and finely cut dovetailed drawer joints suggest the craftsman who made this piece may have been trained in Newport, Rhode Island, or may have been influenced by Newport pieces shipped to North Carolina (taken from Recent Acquisitions gallery label, 5/04)
