The cane wood element originated in Malaysia or Sumatra, the ivory is African elephant, the copper sheet is probably American or possibly English, and the silver is probably a North American, New England silversmith's repair. [AWagner 7/2015]

Copper sleeve at lower end of stick is not original to the piece. The copper sheet bears traces of an engraved musical score with words and was originally used for printing music.
