The Hay Shop was operated by Anthony Hay from 1751-67, and the shop continued in operation until 1776 under the direction of Benjamin Bucktrout (1767-70) and then Edmund Dickinson (1770-76); originally attributed to Charleston, SC, reattributed to Williamsburg by Wallace Gusler, "The Tea Tables of Eastern Virginia," in "Antiques," May 1989, pages1242-5.
