As per Flynt & Fales, Heritage Foundation Collection, p. 258: John C. Jenckes is the son of Joseph Jenckes. He married Sally Snow on November 22, 1801. She passed away in 1817. He then married Fanny Smith on August 25, 1817, who died in 1885. The initial "C" stands for Charles, which was adopted as a middle name later in life.
