Edition Notes

From the series painted and published by William Hogarth, Marriage a la Mode, (six plates), 1745. Appears to be state V, with the full address. Since the coronet is still visible on the dog in the foreground, this impression is probably not state VI (Boydell), and there is no indication of reworking in the building seen through the window, which is a characteristic of state VII (Heath).
