This leather strap ending in wooden pegs forms part of the support strucure for the loom's shafts and heddles. Looped around the rounded saddle, these leather straps help to either raise or loewr the shafts depending on which treadle the weaver presses and thus rotates the saddle. The treadles connect to the saddle through their chains.
